The Physician Payment Sunshine Act requires pharmaceutical and device manufacturers to disclose to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) all payments made to physicians and teaching hospitals. This information is posted on a public website each June, and many of your patients may review — but not fully understand — these payments. This information has also been reported by local and national media in the past. Physician reviews are due May 15.

Physicians are given the opportunity to review payments attributed to them before they are made public, and to dispute payments with the reporting manufacturer, if needed. The data review period 2019 payments is now open. As of March 23, CMS is not extending this deadline due to COVID-19. Physician reviews must be completed by May 15. We encourage you to register for the system so you can review any payments attributed to you. If you have registered in the past, you will not need to register again (but you’ll likely need to change your password).
