Clarification on physician and APP COVID-19 vaccine prioritization

COVID vaccine06

All physicians and APPs employed and/or credentialed at one or more Intermountain hospitals have been classified in four different categories (tiers) as detailed here (or scroll down to see list of physician and APP tiers below). We’re administering vaccines by tier, starting with Tier 1 physicians, APPs, and caregivers.

  • We’re only vaccinating Tier 1 physicians, APPs, and caregivers right now. Caregiver vaccine clinics are being held at Cassia Regional Hospital, Intermountain Medical Center, LDS Hospital, McKay-Dee Hospital, Utah Valley Hospital, and St. George Regional Hospital (Dixie). Clinics will soon be operational at Logan and Alta View.
  • You’re encouraged to get your vaccine at the hospital where you’re privileged. If you’re privileged at multiple hospitals, please get your vaccine at the hospital closest to your primary practice location.
  • Individuals who are in Tier 2 and who have scheduled an appointment for a vaccine may have their appointment canceled until Tier 1 physicians, APPs and caregivers have been vaccinated. If you’re in Tiers 3 or 4 and have signed up for an appointment, you need to cancel the appointment. You’ll be turned away if you arrive at the clinic. We’ll open up slots to Tiers 2-4 as soon as we have availability.
  • If you’re in Tier 1, you’ll receive an email from your hospital or service line medical director that will contain a link to a site where you can schedule a vaccination appointment. If you haven’t received this scheduling link, are trying to book at your primary facility, or would like to be vaccinated and your primary facility hasn’t received vaccine supplies yet, please know that vaccines or more vaccines should be arriving at your facility in the next few days or weeks to open up appointment access. If you’re in Tier 1 and you wish to receive a vaccine before your hospital’s supply has arrived, please contact your hospital medical director.
  • Vaccines are administered by appointment only. Walk-ins won’t receive a vaccine at this time.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate the challenges of early, limited access to vaccines. Teams supporting vaccine implementation at Intermountain are working hard to bring you this important prevention method as quickly as possible. We hope to have enough supplies to provide a vaccine to everyone who wants one as soon as possible—hopefully by the end of January. Remember that with or without a vaccine, we all need to continue to follow healthcare guidance. This includes getting vaccinated as soon as you’re able, as well as continuing to wear appropriate PPE, masking, social distancing, and practicing good hand hygiene.

If you have any questions, please contact your ACMO, service line medical director, or hospital medical director. These leaders will work together to support this process and answer your questions.
