Intermountain welcomes new equity advocate; search for chief equity officer continues

Equity Advocate Kathryn Leslie

Kathryn Leslie

Intermountain has hired an equity advocate, Kathryn Leslie (preferred pronouns: they/them). This fulfills one of the steps Intermountain announced in September 2020 to move equity forward within our organization and our communities. As an advocate and mediator, they will support diversity, equity, and inclusion among caregivers and those we serve. Kathryn will work closely with HR business partners to address any issues or concerns of inequity, including discomfort, microaggressions, and alleged discrimination in our organization. In addition to giving caregivers an added level of trust, they will also quantify trends and make system-level recommendations and improvements to our ongoing work in equity.

Kathryn’s focus over the next few months will be to listen and immerse in our culture through conversations, meetings, and formal onboarding activities. This will also allow time to identify priorities and develop formal activities related to communication channels and program initiatives around equity. More information about how you can work with and utilize Kathryn in your role, team, and department will be shared in the coming months.

Kathryn will report to the chief equity officer once the position is filled.
