Indigenous Peoples' Day honors America's first inhabitants

We recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day on Monday, October 10, honoring America’s first inhabitants and celebrating the heritage of Tribal Nations and Indigenous communities within our service area.

Utah has eight tribes: Confederated Tribes of Goshute, Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah, San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe, Northwestern Band of Shoshone Nation, Skull Valley Band of Goshute, Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah and Ouray Reservation, Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, White Mesa Community, Navajo Nation.  

Colorado has two tribes: Southern Ute Indian Tribe and Ute Mountain Ute Tribe.

Montana has eight tribes: Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes of the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, Blackfeet Tribe of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation of Montana, Chippewa-Cree Indians of the Rocky Boy’s Reservation, Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes of the Flathead Reservation, Crow Tribe of Montana, Fort Belknap Indian Community of the Fort Belknap Reservation of Montana, Little Shell, and Northern Cheyenne Tribe of the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation.

Idaho has five tribes: Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, Shoshone-Paiute Tribes, Coeur D’Alene Tribe, Kootenai Tribe, and Nez Perce Tribe.

Kansas has four tribes: Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska, Kickapoo Tribe of Indians in Kansas, Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, and Sac & Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas and Nebraska.

Within the Desert Region in Nevada is the Southern Paiute Tribe.

Wyoming has two tribes: Arapaho Tribe of the Wind River Reservation and Shoshone Tribe of the Wind River Reservation.
