Breastfeeding Basics

Feeding a newborn is not as straightforward as it might sound and this prenatal class can illuminate the path for first-time parents who want to become a breastfeeding household. Expectant parents benefit from a detailed picture of the first day, the first week, and the first month of breastfeeding, and a review of what is normal and what is not...and when does reaching out for help make sense.

Topics include:

  • The fundamental science of breastfeeding & nutrition
  • Establishing and maintaining an abundant milk supply
  • How to latch and position baby at the breast
  • Skin-to-skin and reading your baby's signals
  • Expectations and emotional components of breastfeeding
  • Choosing the right breast pump and introducing a bottle

This class will help you get breastfeeding off to a good start and is designed to include both parents- partners are encouraged to attend!

Registration

Registration includes space for 2 people (birthing person + support person).
We understand that circumstances may arise that require you to cancel or change your registration. Contact us prior to five (5) business days before class begins for a refund or to reschedule. No refunds or transfers will be given after this time.
In the event of a snowstorm or adverse weather, an email will be sent out notifying you regarding class cancellation and we will follow up with a rescheduled class date the following business day.
Occasionally, we must cancel a class due to low enrollment and will notify you by phone or email. In these instances, we will be happy to find a new class for your or issue a full refund.
