Description

Meditation and Stress Busters for Cancer Survivors

Every Monday, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. (HOLIDAYS EXCLUDED)

Come learn meditation techniques with Deb Christensen, Cancer Care Coordinator and Certified Yoga instructor. There are a variety of meditation and stress reducing techniques available to aid in healing the mind, body and spirit.  Take a break and join us as we explore some of these techniques directed toward reducing the effects of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatments.

The techniques are simple and can be done sitting in a chair or lying on the floor.  Comfortable clothing and a bottle of water are suggested.  We will open class with a positive message and then engage in the meditation.  Support group will follow on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month from 12-1 p.m.

In the last 20 years, meditation has been studied in clinical trials as a way of reducing stress on both the mind and body. Research shows that meditation can help reduce anxiety, stress, blood pressure, chronic pain, and insomnia.

Although meditation can be self-guided, the power of group meditation provides additional benefits.  In the words of Jewel, a grateful participant:  “There is something really nice about the group energy….it just charges your battery.”
