About Nira L. Salant
I am a physical therapist practicing in orthopedics.
I am a physical therapist specializing in orthopedics. I've worked as a physical therapist for over 8 years, after a decade of research and teaching in the environmental sciences. Although I loved studying the natural world, I became a physical therapist so that I could have a direct and tangible impact on human health and well-being. I use manual therapy, exercise prescription, education, and trigger point dry needling to treat a range of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions, including spine and joint pain, balance impairments, sports and overuse injuries, dizziness, headache, and post-operative orthopedic rehabilitation. I strive to provide evidence-based, patient-centered care in a respectful and compassionate manner to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. I am passionate about helping my patients remain active, independent, and able to do the things they love. I myself am a lifelong athlete and outdoors-person, as well as the adoptive mother of an energetic, kind, and fun-seeking toddler. I have personally experienced the heartache and frustration that comes with chronic injuries and pain, so I can empathize deeply with what my patients are going through. I love that my job allows me to give them the tools and the confidence to heal and recover. I grew up just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, with medical professional parents who instilled in my siblings and me a strong work ethic and desire to help others. I currently live in Salt Lake City with my husband, son, and two mutt dogs. We spend our free time hiking, rock climbing, biking, trail running, and skiing in the mountains near our home, as well as gardening, cooking, and preserving the food we grow.
