Dr. Vitkus comes to Intermountain Healthcare from Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, where he was a clinical psychologist on staff for 21 years. He enjoys having a general psychology practice, seeing adults with a variety of issues, such as anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and PTSD/trauma recovery. He is experienced in EMDR and hypnotherapy. He has a particular interest in interpersonal processes, personality, and spirituality. Dr. Vitkus is originally from the Chicago area. He received his training at Northwestern University, Stanford University, and Case Western Reserve University. He began his career as a professor of psychology at Barnard College in New York City before re-specializing in clinical psychology. He came to Salt Lake City when his wife, Lisa, was hired at Primary Children’s Hospital, where she is the Chief Operating Officer for Service Lines. They have two adult children; their daughter is a paleontologist at the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada; their son is a flight scheduler for NetJets in Columbus, Ohio.
