Babysitting training courses are offered at American Fork Hospital for youth between the ages of 9 and 14. Students are provided with a babysitting handbook and other handouts to help them be prepared for a positive, safe babysitting experience.
Students will learn:
- Personal and child safety
- How to prepare a babysitting kit and fun activities
- Positive ways to get kids to mind
- When and whom to call for help
- How to soothe a crying infant
- Hands-on CPR
- First Aid
- and much more.
The cost of the class is $10 with a discount for groups of five or more. Parents and leaders are welcome to stay for the class at no cost and participate if they have things to add.
To register, parents or leaders must call at least five days before the class. Call Intermountain University at (801) 357-7176, option two.
Students are encouraged to bring a healthy snack since the class goes for several hours. Please do not bring noisy foods such as chips, but sandwiches, cheese sticks, apple slices, drinks, etc., are acceptable. Parents and leaders are welcome to stay and participate.
