Beef Bulgur Burger

You don’t have to ditch all burgers to eat healthy. This beef bulgur burger is bursting with flavor.

Paired with crunchy celery that contrasts with sweet citrus, this beef bulgur burger is bursting with flavor.


Beef Bulgur Burger

  • 1 2/3 cup water, boiling
  • 3/4 cup bulgur
  • 1/3 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 3/4 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1/2 cup red onion, diced
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. black pepper
  • 5 each whole wheat hamburger buns
  • 5 leaves green leaf lettuce
  • 5 slices red onion, sliced
  • 10 slices tomato, sliced

Celery Citrus Salad

  • 3 each whole orange
  • 2 tbsp. feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 2 1/2 cup baby lettuce mix
  • 1/2 cup celery leaves, chopped
  • 1 3/4 cup celery, diced


Beef Bulgur Burger

  1. Add bulgur to boiling water; cover, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until water is almost absorbed and bulgur is tender.
  2. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes. Fluff bulgur and set aside until cooled.
  3. Grease grill grates with oil and preheat to medium heat.
  4. Mix together beef, bulgur, parsley, cumin, cinnamon, allspice and diced onion.
  5. Form mixture into 5 patties and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Grill patties, flipping once, until deep golden brown and cooked through 5-7 minutes per side.

Celery Citrus Salad

  1. Squeeze juice from one orange into large bowl, add feta cheese and vinegar; mix with a fork; mashing the cheese to make a dressing.
  2. Peel other oranges; separate into segments, cut in half.
  3. Transfer to bowl with dressing, add greens, celery leaves and celery; toss well.

Place one Bulgur Burger patty on each bun, top with lettuce leaf, sliced onion and two tomato slices, serve with ½ cup of Celery Citrus Salad per serving.
