Will I be given any medicine that I have not taken before?

Many patients do receive new medications while they are in the hospital. As pharmacists we want you to feel at ease about new medication you receive. If you are prescribed a new medication and have any questions, please ask us.

Before taking a new medication, will the hospital staff tell me what it is for?

We aim to inform you about the medications we are giving to you. If you are unsure of what you are taking, please ask the nurse, doctor or pharmacist at any time. We are happy to further discuss you medications with you.

All medications can have possible side effects. It is our goal to address any questions regarding possible side effects a medication may cause or that you may already be experiencing.

If I am in pain while in the hospital, how will it be controlled? Will the hospital staff do everything they can to help me if I'm in pain?

Our pharmacy works closely together with the physicians to make sure we keep your pain as tolerable as possible. There are many pain medications that we can choose from to create an individual pain regimen that works best for you.
