Creating a healthy lifestyle is one of the most important goals you can accomplish. Nutrition counseling services at Cedar City Hospital (formerly Valley View Medical Center) helps you make healthy choices when it comes to diet. Individual nutrition counseling provides a one on one session with our outpatient dietitian.
Appointments can be arranged directly by the client, or through the client’s doctor. The sessions with the registered dietitian include a complete assessment of your overall nutritional status, medical history, and dietary habits, followed by a personalized plan to help you achieve your nutritional goals and a healthy lifestyle. Nutritional guidance is offered for a wide variety of diagnoses and medical problems, as well as for nutrition through the life cycle.
Nutrition Counseling Specialties
Focuses on medical nutrition therapy for a range of conditions: Weight management, GI (gastrointestinal) disorders, food allergies, renal failure (condition in which the kidneys lose the ability to remove waste and balance fluids), pregnancy, etc. Service includes a complete assessment of client’s nutritional status, medical history and current medical/nutrition problem. A personalized plan of nutrition therapy is developed and provided, with follow-up sessions arranged as needed. Individual or class options are available. Eating Disorders (Anorexia and Bulimia)
Please contact a registered dietitian to schedule an appointment. The dietitian is available to provide eating disorder nutrition counseling in St. George or Cedar City.
Metabolic Disorders (PKU, etc.)
Please contact a registered dietitian for a one on one nutrition consult. Metabolic Clinics generally take place Tuesday of each week in St. George.
Services other than nutrition counseling are also provided by the Clinical Nutrition Department. Presentations on nutrition topics to community groups and schools can be arranged. Menu approval for specialty schools and nutrition assessments for skilled nursing and assisted living facilities are also available.
