Dr. Porter grew up in Rutland, Vermont where he gained a great appreciation for, as Tom Brokaw would say, “the greatest generation,” leading him to a career in Geriatric Medicine. He attended the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago. He continued west to complete his Geriatric Fellowship at the University of Utah. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and board-eligible in Geriatric Medicine. His clinical interests include dementia, end of life planning, and polypharmacy (limiting the use prescribed medication).
In his free time, Brett enjoys Utah for the outdoor Mecca that it is. His hobbies include mountain biking, skiing, backpacking, and canyoneering. He is also a novice fly fisherman and river runner.
