Dr. Carpenter was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2010 with a degree in Microbiology and a minor in History before going on to study medicine at the University of Oklahoma. Following medical school, she completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of Utah where she was chosen to be chief resident for the pediatric program for 2017. She and her family have fallen in love with Utah and enjoy taking advantage of all the activities that the state has to offer.
During residency and chief year, Dr. Carpenter was passionate about improving the educational curriculum at all levels. She worked to develop a curriculum to teach residents about newborn development, as well as teaching physician assistant students how to examine newborns. She was also an active member of the Medical Spanish Interest Group and was able to travel to Guatemala for a Spanish language and cultural immersion.
Dr. Carpenter values a family-centered approach to care and enjoys getting to know patients and their families. She is fluent in both Spanish and English. In her free time, Dr. Carpenter enjoys spending time with her husband Mike, and their son Ben. When not in clinic she can be found skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, or doing yoga. Buster, their adorable dog, is always included in the family adventures.
