The treatment of head and neck cancers at Intermountain Cancer Centers involves a multi-disciplinary approach. We conduct a bi-monthly specialized tumor conference that involves many different specialists including otolaryngologists, radiation and medical oncologists, pathologists, diagnostic radiologists, speech therapists, and dietitians. They meet to plan together the best treatment course for each very complicated cancers.
Treatment often requires all three of the major cancer treatment methods—surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy.
Our board-certified head and neck cancer specialists participate in clinical trials and utilize national guidelines to plan treatments.
Intermountain Cancer Centers treat more head and neck cancer patients than any other health systems in Utah combined: 54 percent of patients are treated by Intermountain Cancer Centers.
