Personal Bio & Interests

He is an adult psychiatrist who was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where he developed a passion for the outdoors at a young age. Athletics provided a great platform for him to develop an appreciation for friendships and connecting with others. He continued his athletic pursuits as a collegiate swimmer during his undergraduate studies of biochemistry and molecular biology at Kenyon College in Gambier, OH. He stayed in Ohio for his medical degree which he obtained from Ohio State University in 2013. He also completed a Masters in Public Health degree while in medical school, largely due to his interest in global mental health. He moved to Salt Lake City in 2013 to start his residency in psychiatry at the University of Utah. During residency, he pursued further learning in global mental health and developed specific interests in the management of treatment-resistant depression, bipolar disorder, and substance use. Other clinical interests include electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), mindfulness therapy, existential therapy, and the importance of diet and exercise in maintaining mental well-being and in the treatment of mental illnesses. He served as chief resident during his final year of training at the University of Utah in 2016-2017 prior to transitioning to his outpatient adult psychiatry practice with Intermountain Union Park Psychiatry and Counseling. He also specializes in treatment and management of ADHD, anxiety, PTSD, and psychotic disorders.
