Sanpete Valley Hospital’s Imaging Services combines personal care and attention with technology to offer a variety of diagnostic tests, including DEXA Scans. The Dual Energy X-ray Absorbency (DEXA) Scan is used for early detection of osteoporosis, as well as identifying bone density, and a providing details of a patient’s body composition.
This test can be used for men, women, and children for different diagnostic purposes; however, to detect osteoporosis, it is recommended that women 40 and older receive regular scans.
If you feel that you are at risk for osteoporosis, please talk to your physician to get a referral for a DEXA Scan.
Mammography is a low-dose, non-invasive X-ray used to examine and search for irregularities in the breast tissue. Mammograms are regularly used as an early detection tool for breast cancer. Because screening tests can find breast cancer early, when it’s most treatable, it’s recommended all women over the age of 40 receive a screening mammogram.
Scheduling a mammogram is easy and doesn’t require a doctor’s referral. Call Sanpete Valley Hospital to schedule your mammogram.
