Dr. Puttgen is a pediatric dermatologist caring for children and young adults and their families for all disorders of the skin, hair and nails. Her interests and expertise include infantile hemangiomas, vascular anomalies, birthmarks, pigmented lesions ('moles'), atopic dermatitis (eczema), psoriasis, burn and traumatic scars, neonatal dermatology, pediatric lichen sclerosis and acne. She is a nationally recognized expert in laser and surgical treatments for Pediatric Dermatology patients.
Personal Bio & Interests
Dr. Kate Puttgen is originally from New York and spent most of her childhood in Kentucky. She received her undergraduate degree from Sewanee, The University of the South, graduating summa cum laude, and earned her medical doctorate at the Emory University School of Medicine. She completed her Dermatology residency training at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where she served as chief resident. She then completed her subspecialty fellowship training in Pediatric Dermatology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she joined the faculty after completing her fellowship. Prior to joining Intermountain Healthcare, she worked as an Associate Professor of Dermatology and Pediatrics and served as Division Chief and Fellowship Director for Pediatric Dermatology at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Puttgen was Co-Director of the Johns Hopkins Vascular Anomalies Center, caring for patients with complex vascular birthmarks. Her interests and expertise include infantile hemangiomas, vascular anomalies, birthmarks, atopic dermatitis (eczema), psoriasis, burn and traumatic scars, neonatal dermatology, pediatric lichen sclerosis and acne. She is a nationally recognized expert in laser and surgical treatments for Pediatric Dermatology patients.Dr. Puttgen is board certified in Dermatology and sub-specialty boarded in Pediatric Dermatology by the American Board of Dermatology. She has published extensively in prominent medical journals and textbooks and lectures frequently both nationally and internationally. In her clinical practice, Dr. Puttgen believes in providing patients and their families with state of the art, compassionate medical care and clear, evidence based treatment options to develop effective, tailored management plans. She enjoys working with children from birth to early adulthood and their families. In her free time, Dr. Puttgen enjoys reading, travel, yoga, cooking and spending time with her husband and two young sons exploring their beautiful new home state of Utah.
