Introducing Leah M. Costello, MD

Dr. Costello attended the University of Vermont’s College of Medicine in Burlington, graduating with honors in basic science, elective rotations, and her clerkship core. She then completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at Primary Children’s Medical Center in association with the University of Utah. Dr. Costello’s main interests are primary care, particularly in relation to health education, adolescent health, preventive medicine, and international health advocacy.

An active volunteer, Dr. Costello organized student volunteers to teach lessons on physiology and preventive health with Smile D.O.C. She has been a Wellness Coach with the University of Vermont, and as a Community Access to Child Health grant recipient, she led sex education classes for Latino parents and children. As a fourth year medical student, Dr. Costello traveled to the African country of Swaziland with the Baylor International Pediatrics AIDS Initiative to care for residents infected with HIV.

Dr. Costello and her husband enjoy exploring the Utah landscape by biking, sailing, gardening, and alpine skiing.
