Coons Named to AHA Regional Policy Board

The American Hospital Association (AHA) recently announced Utah’s appointments to their Regional Policy Board (RPB) 8. Chris Coons, Vice President of Intermountain Healthcare’s Southwest Region was named as Utah’s state delegate and member of the RPB 8 for 2011.

Coons has been an active leader in Utah’s health care sector for more than 25 years. Beginning his health care career in marketing, his administrative talent soon led him in the direction of operations. He served five years as an operations officer before being appointed vice president of Intermountain’s Urban South Region in 1998. He continued in this capacity until 2005, when he was named vice president of the system’s Southwest Region. He also has administrative accountability for Intermountain Home Care Services.

An active member of the Utah Hospital & Health Systems Association, Chris has chaired the UHA Board and the Government Relations Committee. He regularly attends American Hospital Association Annual Membership Meetings and participates in UHA’s annual congressional visits in Washington. Coons is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and a former regent for Utah’s ACHE chapter.

The AHA Regional Policy Board meets three times a year to discuss policy issues and alternatives. Their recommendation and analyses are used by the American Hospital Association board in its policy deliberations.
