50 Most Influential Physician Executives in Healthcare

Four physician executives with ties to Utah have been named among Modern Healthcare's "50 Most Influential Physician Executives in Healthcare." Listed in the magazine's May 9 issue, the seventh annual ranking began with more than 11,700 nominations, which were narrowed to a final ballot of 100 physician executives who received the most nominations.

Included with Utah connections are the following:

  • Charles Sorenson, MD, president and CEO of Intermountain Healthcare
  • Brent James, MD, chief quality officer of Intermountain Healthcare
  • Arnold Milstein, MD, MPH member of Intermountain Healthcare's volunteer Board of Trustees and professor of medicine at Stanford University
  • James K. Lassetter, MD, chairman and CEO of Salt Lake City based Medicity

According to the magazine, physicians employed by the federal government or public health advisory organizations dominate this year's list. Readers' votes counted for 50 percent of the outcome and 50 percent came from votes of the senior editors at Modern Healthcare and Modern Physician magazines.
