Intermountain Trustees recognized for contributions

Lynn Pett and Kelly Matthews each recently received the 2011 William N. Jones Trustee of Excellence award in honor of their volunteer service with Intermountain Healthcare.

Pett and Matthews were selected from among Intermountain's 450 trustees for the award, which is given annually to board members who have been exceptionally effective in helping Intermountain achieve its mission. This honor is named for Bill Jones, who chaired Intermountain Healthcare's board from its creation in 1975 until 1990. Intermountain trustees serve without pay and oversee Intermountain policies, goals, and expectations for management. They ensure Intermountain effectively strives to fulfill its mission of providing excellent healthcare to patients and to the community.

Lynn Pett, former mayor of Murray City

Lynn Pett, former mayor of Murray City, has been a member of Intermountain's Urban Central Region board since 1999. Before that, he was a member of the board of Cottonwood Hospital. He's also served on the boards of the Cottonwood Foundation and Intermountain Research and Medical Foundation, formerly the Deseret Foundation. Pett was deeply involved in helping develop Intermountain Medical Center. The Urban Central Region includes Alta View Hospital, Intermountain Medical Center, LDS Hospital, Riverton Hospital, and The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital (TOSH).

Kelly Matthews, PhD

Kelly Matthews, PhD, has been a member of the governing board of Intermountain Homecare for 10 years, including three as the board's chair. He served as First Security Bank's chief economist for 27 years and as Wells Fargo's vice president and chief economist since 2000. During his service on the board, he helped increase the use of quality measurement and improvement techniques, and he helped sharpen the board's focus on Intermountain's mission. Intermountain Homecare is a full-service home health and medical equipment provider, offering services to communities across Utah and southern Idaho.
