Dr. Erik Gulbrandsen

Canyon View Clinic welcomes Erik Gulbrandsen, DO, a family medicine doctor. Dr. Gulbrandsen comes to Parowan from Southern Illinois University, where he was Chief Resident of the Family Medicine residency.

Dr. Gulbrandsen earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri. He belongs to the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, and the American Osteopathic Association.

Dr. Gulbrandsen has a background in economics, programming, and information technology. He is well-versed on the interplay between technology, medicine, healthcare policy, and diverse patient populations.

During his residency, he served on many committees, including Southern Illinois University’s Patient Centered Medical Home Committee. Dr. Gulbrandsen aided the committee by writing an application generating regular, highly detailed reports from Electronic Medical Record data. These reports helped a local clinic proactively contact patients about health maintenance.

The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians awarded Dr. Gulbrandsen the “2011 H. Winter Griffith Resident Scholarship for Excellence in Practice Improvement and Patient-centered Care”. The award recognized his development of a quality improvement project that focused on patient education and helping patients manage their own chronic conditions.
