Intermountain Named One of Nation's Best In Use of Computer Technology

Salt Lake City — Intermountain Healthcare has been named on this year's Most Wired Hospital list by Hospitals & Health Networks, the journal of the American Hospital Association. Intermountain has been named on the list representing the nation's top 100 most technologically savvy hospital systems in 13 of the 14 years the survey has been conducted.

Assessments on hospitals and health systems nationwide were based on achievement in four areas of focus: infrastructure; business and administrative management; clinical quality and safety; and care continuum. This year's rankings evaluated 1,570 U.S. hospitals.

"Healthcare IT plays a key role in improving patient outcomes, reducing costs, and coordinating care," says Marc Probst, Intermountain Vice-President and CIO. "By providing our staff and caregivers with state-of-the art computerized medical systems, we can deliver quality, safe, and efficient care even as the complexities of healthcare increase."

Intermountain has been developing and using computerized medical systems since the 1970s. A complete listing of the rankings is at hhnmag.com.
