Recognition for iPad app developed for Life Flight crews

Salt Lake City — Intermountain Healthcare was named among the top 10 healthcare innovators as part of this year's InformationWeek 500 — a list of the top technology innovators in the U.S. Intermountain was the fourth of 23 hospitals or healthcare systems that made the ranking and 47th of the 500 organizations listed overall. Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center took the top ranking on the list of 500.

Intermountain was honored for work its Technology Innovation Lab developed for Intermountain Life Flight. The lab developed an iPad application that allows Life Flight medical crews to enter critical patient data into the patient's medical form before arriving at the hospital, which supports patient safety and improves workflow.

"This new iPad app ensures a seamless transfer of care between Life Flight teams and hospital clinicians," says Frederick Holston, Intermountain's Chief Technology Officer. "This is a good example of our continual efforts to develop and implement health IT solutions that improve patient care."

Since the 1970s, Intermountain has pioneered the use of electronic medical records and is considered a national leader in this area. The records system gives clinicians complete a medical history for individual patients, clinical decision-making support, and a vibrant research tool.
