Fun Game Lets Kids See Candy Calories Climb

Get out, get going, and LiVe Well. That’s Intermountain Healthcare’s LiVe Well message to trick-or-treaters this year!  To help, the LiVe Well campaign website Intermountainlive.org features a fun game for kids to drag candy into a pumpkin's mouth to see how quickly the calories climb! The pumpkin shows children a day’s worth of candy calories. As the pumpkin is fed, it speaks funny messages and shows entertaining facial expressions before it bursts.

LiVe Well is Intermountain’s public service campaign that encourages physical activity and healthy eating. The LiVe Well site also includes popular television ads, fitness facts, and other games such as LiVe Well Island, Mission Nutrition, and videos on How the Body Works. In addition to the website, the innovative campaign includes a mobile app, school assemblies, humorous fake vending machines, advertising, and resource materials for health providers and families. The campaign has resources to support all who want to improve their health through activity and nutrition.

The core principles of the campaign are found in its Eight Healthy Habits:

1.       Always eat breakfast

2.       Eat more fruits and vegetables

3.       Limit sweetened drinks

4.       Limit screen time

5.       Increase your physical activity

6.       Eat meals together as a family

7.       Be positive about food

8.       Don't criticize about weight
