Intermountain Listed Among "Most Admired" in IT by Forbes

Forbes magazine has ranked Intermountain Healthcare among its "21 Most Admired Companies Making IT a Competitive Advantage." The magazine cites a newly published Gartner study conducted in 2012 of nearly 400 C-level executives of companies from around the world.


Since the 1970s, Intermountain has pioneered the use of electronic medical records and is considered a national leader in this area. The records system gives clinicians a complete medical history for individual patients, clinical decision-making support, and a vibrant research tool.

The 21 companies on the list represent a range of industry sectors. In addition to Intermountain, four other healthcare providers are listed, including Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Hospital Corporation of America, and Kaiser Permanente. Other industry sectors represented on the list include Consumer Products (Proctor & Gamble, Nestle), Retail (Amazon, Target), Finance/Banking (Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo), Technology/Software (Google, IBM, Apple, Microsoft) and Manufacturing/Industrial (General Electric, Schlumberger, Toyota).
