LOGAN, Utah — Logan Regional Hospital was named Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® for 2013 by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of healthcare organizations in the country. This recognition means Logan Regional has demonstrated exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions.

They set the bar high and this achievement demonstrates the dedication, commitment, and teamwork of each of our medical professionals to consistently provide our patients with the best care possible.”
Logan Regional and the other hospitals in the U.S. to earn this distinction represent the top 33 percent of Joint Commission-accredited hospitals reporting accountability measure performance data for 2012. The Joint Commission looks at how frequently patients received recommended treatments in the following areas: heart attack, pneumonia, surgery, children’s asthma, stroke and venous thromboembolism, inpatient psychiatric services, and immunization for pneumonia and influenza. Logan Regional was recognized for its achievement in the areas of pneumonia and surgery.
Seven other Intermountain Healthcare hospitals were honored with this recognition. They include Intermountain Medical Center, Alta View, TOSH, Riverton, Primary Children’s Hospital, McKay-Dee Hospital, and Valley View Medical Center.
Logan Regional and each of the hospitals named as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® have:
- Achieved cumulative performance of 95 percent or above across all reported accountability measures.
- Achieved performance of 95 percent or above on every reported accountability measure where there are at least 30 denominator cases.
- Have at least one core measure set that has a composite rate of 95 percent or above (and have a performance rate of 95 percent or above on all related individual accountability measures).
A 95 percent score means a hospital provided an evidence-based practice 95 times out of 100 opportunities. Each measure represents an evidence-based practice, such as giving aspirin to heart attack patients as soon as they arrive in the ED, giving antibiotics one hour before surgery, or providing a home management plan of care for children with asthma.
