Heart Expert Talks About Benefits of Pokemon Go App That's Getting People Moving

The new location-based game has gotten people of all ages out into the community as they try to "Catch 'em all."

Aside from the safety concerns of people having their eyes glued to their smartphone while walking, the game offers some real health benefits as players walk around hunting for the small little monsters known as Pokemon, according to Meagan Kline,  an exercise physiologist at the Intermountain Medical Center Heart Institute in Murray.

Kline notes that the average player spends 43 minutes a day on the game, which is roughly 200 calories burned depending on the person's size.

Kline is available today (July 14) between 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Intermountain Medical Center to talk about the health benefits of the new app that is sweeping the nation.
