Intermountain Healthcare has entered into a letter of understanding to become the preferred healthcare provider for Summit Vista, a new retirement community set to be built in Taylorsville. Intermountain plans to offer onsite care to Summit Vista residents. SelectHealth will also offer its Medicare Advantage plan to residents of the community.
Summit Vista will be designed for active, independent seniors. The community will offer a wide range of wellness services as well as the assurance of assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing facilities if those services are ever required by residents. It will also offer comprehensive, coordinated, and integrated healthcare on site — including preventative medicine services offered by primary care physicians.
“In other parts of the country, it might have been difficult to find a healthcare provider that understands the value of this comprehensive approach,” says Mark Erickson, Managing Director of Summit Vista. “We are fortunate that Intermountain already understands the value of integrated healthcare and employs a substantial array of physicians and other health professionals, as well as offering clinics, hospitals, and other ancillary services, to provide a new standard of excellence in healthcare for retirees and older seniors. Our ability to have SelectHealth Advantage as an available insurance option for our residents will enhance their ability to stay healthy and independent.”
“One of the opportunities that our arrangement with Summit Vista will give us,” says Laura Kaiser, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Intermountain, “is a new environment in which to apply what we already know about effective healthcare for seniors and to become even better prepared to help Baby Boomers live and be healthy as they move into their retirement years.”
Intermountain, SelectHealth and Summit Vista will finalize the terms of their relationship in the coming months. Construction on Summit Vista will begin in late 2016 and should finish in early 2018. “We plan to offer a complete range of healthcare services to the first residents as of opening day,” Mark says.
