Free Lead Testing Offered by Intermountain Healthcare for Sandy Residents Potentially Affected by Water Incident

WHAT:
Sandy City residents living in zones 1, 2, or 3 who were potentially affected by the city’s water contamination situation will be eligible for no-cost blood lead testing at an Intermountain Healthcare lead testing event on Saturday.
 
While the duration of exposure to lead due to this incident is brief and therefore unlikely to have long-term health impacts, Intermountain Healthcare and the Salt Lake County Health Department want to provide potentially-affected Sandy residents with peace of mind.
 
“Water safety is something we all take for granted,” said Mikelle Moore, Intermountain Healthcare senior vice president for Community Health. “Sandy City has made a great effort to restore their systems, and as a community partner we want to help rebuild confidence and peace of mind in their neighborhoods.”

Arrival times will be first-come, first-served; if all slots fill, callers’ contact information will be recorded and, they’ll be contacted later to schedule another time to be tested. There are several testing locations.
