Intermountain Cassia Regional Hospital to Resume Elective Procedures Other Services on Monday as Part of Return to “Green” COVID-19 Status

Starting Monday, May 11, Intermountain Cassia Regional Hospital will reintroduce services and some medical procedures that have previously been restricted as part of safety measures taken in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The hospital is making this adjustment in response to current state data that shows a low COVID-19 patient surge risk in the Mini-Cassia area. This includes resuming all elective surgeries and procedures.

“We are pleased to reopen these services that benefit our patients and the community, while still diligently taking measures to keep everyone as safe as possible,” said Ben Smalley, Cassia Regional Hospital administrator. “Our caregivers are expertly trained for these situations and our protocols are in place to keep everyone protected. Please feel encouraged to come here for the care you need.”

Throughout the country and individual states, certain regions have seen hot spots of COVID-19 patients and hospitalizations, while other areas have seen fewer and decreased cases making it possible for those areas with less cases to consider different access opportunities for services based upon COVID-19 data.

In March, Cassia Regional Hospital voluntarily restricted elective procedures in order to preserve personal protective equipment and to reduce the number of people in the hospital to prepare for a potential surge of COVID-19 patients.

Given the decreasing COVID-19 cases in the Mini-Cassia area, Cassia Regional will continue to provide elective procedures and expanded services, which includes clinic visits, imaging, lab, physical therapy, and other key services, according to Smalley.

These services will be provided under strict guidelines that follow all COVID-19 safety protocols. This includes social distancing practices, visitation rules, and following personal protective equipment policies.

Out of an abundance of caution, Cassia Regional will continue to limit individuals who want to visit patients at the hospital.

For full information about the visitor policy and limited exceptions, please visit www.IntermountainHealthcare.org/Visitors, or call the hospital at (208) 678-4444.

Cassia Regional will continuously monitor the situation and make adjustments accordingly, said Smalley.

As of May 8, 2020, Intermountain facilities in Utah were currently in an "orange" status.
