Intermountain and Northwell Caregivers to Commemorate One-Year Anniversary of Intermountain’s Trip to Help NYC Hospitals Care for COVID Patients with Virtual Reunion on Friday

WHAT:
2020 was a year like no other. For 100 Intermountain Healthcare caregivers in Salt Lake City, last year was an opportunity to reach out across the country to help fellow caregivers being overwhelmed by huge numbers of ill COVID-19 patients filling hospitals throughout New York.

One year ago this week, Intermountain caregivers were in New York working side-by-side with caregivers at Northwell Health and New York Presbyterian hospitals during the state’s major COVID surge.

Intermountain caregivers say the two-week experience working on the frontline in New York hospitals was invaluable in their preparation for Utah’s later COVID surge.

After the Intermountain team returned home, 30 caregivers from Northwell returned the favor later in the year when their initial surge subsided, and they traveled to Utah to help Intermountain caregivers during Utah’s COVID surge.

On Friday, caregivers from Intermountain and Northwell Health will commemorate the one-year anniversary of the Intermountain medical trip to New York with a virtual “reunion” and zoom press briefing to mark the collaboration and unity that arose between the health care workers and health systems.

News media are invited.

NOTE: B-roll video and photos of Intermountain caregivers in NYC and the Northwell caregivers in Utah will be available.
