Intermountain Healthcare Teams Up with Alpine School District to Bring Robotic High-Tech Operating Room to the Classroom

WHAT:
Intermountain Healthcare and Alpine School District have teamed up to bring a high-tech robotic operating room to the classroom to give students an up-close look and hands on experience with robot-assisted surgery.

Intermountain American Fork Hospital recently launched robotic assisted surgery with the da Vinci XI robotic-assisted surgical system for minimally-invasive surgeries for gynecologic, urologic, thoracic, cardiac, and general surgical procedures.

On Monday (April 18) Lone Peak High School students will get a hands-on demonstration of the same robotic system surgeons use for training. Media are invited.

During the hands-on, day-long demonstration, students will learn how the system works and see how math and science translates to career opportunities involving technology, engineering, and healthcare.

Students, educators,  surgeons and other caregivers will be available to speak to the media.
