Wee Ones Get in the Halloween Spirit at The Baby Place

They may not be ready to trick or treat just yet, but four precious NICU bundles of joy observed Halloween today in costumes crafted with love and attention to detail by doctors and nurses of The Baby Place at Intermountain Good Samaritan Medical Center.

The babies of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) range from 32 to 36 weeks at birth. Dressing up these tiny trick or treaters is part of an annual tradition at the hospital, along with other contests, games, and holiday themed activities. Judging is a challenge for the Senior Leadership Team and Baby Place caregivers, but this year’s winner was “Old Lady” – worn by Ivy. Other costumes included Police Officer, Pirate, and Bumble Bee.

The NICU of Good Samaritan was recently expanded and modernized to provide the highest quality of care for these fragile infants. A ribbon-cutting ceremony in May introduced the new facility to the community. Families have been incredibly appreciative of the private rooms, ability to easily spend nights beside their baby’s bed, and the top-notch care and attention from The Baby Place caregivers.

Earlier this year, U.S. News & World Report ranked maternity care at GSMC as “High Performing” and The Baby Place is proud to be Colorado’s first Baby-Friendly Hospital, a valuable designation from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), paving the way for excellent care for the newest residents of the Centennial State.
