Dr. Kimball was raised on a dairy farm in Draper, Utah. He graduated from Jordan High School. He lettered in football and baseball. He played basketball and participated in track. He graduated from Brigham Young University with his undergraduate degree and received his medical degree from the University of Utah College of Medicine. He was on active duty in the United States Army for nine years and trained at Letterman Army Hospital on the Presidio in San Francisco, California. He spent a year at the Shriner's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri and three years as the orthopedic surgeon at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. He has been in private practice in Sandy, Utah ever since. He is married and has six children and twenty-eight grandchildren. He loves to snow ski, water ski, boat, fish, run, read, hike, travel, play golf, teach, bird watch and photograph birds, but mostly he likes to work. He thinks he might work forever, because the only other things he knows how to do are milk cows and farm. He is certain that he does not want to do that again.
