Personal Bio & Interests

Eric Barker, MD, earned his medical degree from the University of Chicago in 2011. He completed his residency training in psychiatry at Dartmouth, focusing his experience on treating addictions. After residency Dr. Barker began working for Intermountain Health where he was a founding staff member of Intermountain Health's first ever Opioid Treatment Program at the Logan Dayspring Treatment and Recovery Clinic. He is board certified in both Adult Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. Dr. Barker describes his philosophy of practice as one of patience and going the extra mile to assist individuals struggling with addictions to make progress in their journey of recovery:?Whenever I sit down with a patient I remind myself that the person in front of me is an important individual, they are somebody's child and family. I make it my purpose to offer the exact care that I would want someone to offer my own children and family to ensure that we administer the best care possible.?Dr. Barker has particular expertise in the treatment of opioid use disorder. He is an assistant professor who trains resident physicians in addiction psychiatry. Dr. Barker is on the core addiction psychiatry fellowship faculty. He focuses on training fellows to operate federally certified Opioid Treatment Programs.
