Knee Pain
Knee pain can be the result from many causes: strains, injury to ligaments (ACL for example), arthritis, sports, and following surgery. Our therapists are skilled in evaluating the motion, strength, agility and stability of the knee and then applying the right treatment.
Your Knees are Important
We use our knees with most activities of the day including walking, climbing stairs, squatting, and kneeling. No one wants their knees to wear out early. At Intermountain physical therapy we know how important your knees are. That's why our therapists have received specialized training that qualifies them to be experts in taking care of your knees.
You're Part of the Team
Sometimes patients feel left out of their own treatment. Not at our facilities. We will include you from the start of treatment until you are able to continue on your own.
Physical Therapy Evaluation
Your treatment starts with a physical therapy evaluation. We will ask you about the history of your knee problems, what has led up to your current problem, and your activity goals. We will measure your strength and range of motion. We will determine the source of your knee pain and guide you to improved activity.
Knee Treatment
Once the proper evaluation is complete we will begin treatment specific to your problem. Treatment could include mobilizing or stretching your knee so that it moves easier. Strengthening to your knee will allow you to climb stairs, squat, kneel or run. We provide sport specific treatment to return you to sports or recreational activities. We may use specialized equipment that takes weight off your knee or analyzes its stability and strength.
Physical Therapy after Knee Surgery
Knee surgery is common. Ligament reconstruction occurs with young and middle aged patients. Knee replacement is more common with those over 50. Therapists at Intermountain Physical Therapy locations work closely with your surgeon to coordinate your care. In addition, your medical records are generally available on-line to provide the therapist with operative and imaging reports. Our primary goal is to maximize the results of your surgery and get you back to doing what you enjoy.
