A labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that rejuvenates the appearance of the vagina.
When is a labiaplasty beneficial?
For women, childbirth, aging, and other factors can create changes down below. A labiaplasty surgery can reduce the inner and/or outer labia (the folds of the skin surrounding the human labia) to accompany sex reassignment surgery or address congenital conditions, physical discomfort such as skin irritation or pain, obstacles to hygiene, and a desire to alter the appearance of the genitals.
How is a labiaplasty performed?
Labiaplasty is performed by removing portions of the labia and clitoral hood skin with fine, dissolvable stitches. The outpatient procedure usually takes one to two hours.
What results can I expect?
Labiaplasty before and after results are visible after swelling subsides. Results are long-lasting, though the vagina can change with time or birthing more children.
