Jim Macintyre MD, MPE, FACSM, Dip Sport Med, Sports MedicineDr. Macintyre?s specialties include: Sports Medicine, Non-surgical management of knee, shoulder, foot and ankle, hip and spine disorders, Tendon problems, Dance injuries, Concussion management.Dr. Macintyre has significant experience in dance injuries and taught in the University of Utah?s Dance Department. He has worked extensively with Ballet West Academy. He has published a number of articles and chapters on dance injuries. He has worked extensively with runners and has authored a number of publications on running injuries, including a chapter in the IOC Encyclopedia of Sports Injuries. He has worked and traveled with elite alpine and freestyle skiers for over 25 years.He has given over 300 sports medicine lectures in 10 different countries.Dr. Macintyre is a non-operative sports medicine physician. He will assess your injury and identify not just the specific injury, but the training, strength, biomechanical and technique factors that have led to your injury. This allows the root causes of the injury to be treated, not just the symptoms. If he feels that the problem needs surgery, he will arrange to have you see one of his partners for a surgical consultation, often on the same day as your visit.
