He has served as the team physician for professional, Olympic, collegiate and high school athletes and teams. Most notably, he was team physician for Real Salt Lake from 2013-2020. Dr. Kirk has developed the opinion that all of his patients are athletes. Although athleticism looks different for everybody, most people care deeply about maintaining participation in their sports or physical activities. As your sports medicine physician, Dr Kirk's goal is to help you recover from your short term injuries quickly and maintain longevity in the sports and physical activities you love to do. He strives to give adequate time and attention to detail during office visits to make the most correct diagnosis, which is key to proper treatment and recovery.Dr. Kirk sees patients for most musculoskeletal and sport-related injuries. He has particular interest in fracture care, overuse and tendon injuries, osteoarthritis, regenerative medicine, running medicine, and sport concussion. As part of the diagnostic process, and when clinically appropriate, he uses X-ray, musculoskeletal ultrasound, advanced imaging (MRI, CT, etc), and biomechanical running analysis. Dr. Kirk uses non-surgical treatments for the management of his patients including ultrasound-guided injections and procedures. If surgery becomes necessary, Dr. Kirk refers patients to his surgical partners for management.Dr. Kirk grew up in Murray, Utah where he played as many sports as he could. During high school, he played on the football, rugby, and soccer teams at Murray High School. He now enjoys individual endurance sports including the Ironman triathlon (Santa Rosa 2017) and cycling (Lotoja 2018). He also loves to golf. He married his high school sweetheart, Nancy, who is also an endurance athlete (Boston Marathon 2018). They are the proud parents of four great kids.
