What Is Lactate Threshold?
Lactate, which is commonly referred to as lactic acid, builds up in the muscles during physical activity. Your body produces lactic acid naturally to help provide your body with energy. However, when your body is producing too much lactic acid for your muscles to process, fatigue can set in.

How Does A Lactate Threshold Test Work?
A lactate threshold test is performed by taking a small sample of blood at various stages of a work out. At the Live Well Center we take this sample from your ear as you run on a treadmill or ride a stationary bike. We measure the lactate levels in your blood and compare them to your heart rate and power output. This information helps us develop a training plan for you to increase your fitness level.
