Valley Regional Park offers more than two miles of paved trails including a 1.4-mile outer loop through a mix of groomed grass and natural areas. Several short connector trails and an optional loop around the softball complex make it possible to adjust the route to suit your time and energy level. This trail is suitable for children and adults of all skill and fitness levels.

The Trailhead

Valley Regional Park is located at 5100 South 2700 West in Taylorsville, UT. To reach the park from I-215:

  1. Take Exit 15 for 4700 South.
  2. Turn west onto 4700 South.
  3. Drive 0.4 miles to 2700 West.
  4. Turn left (south) onto 2700 West.
  5. Continue 0.6 miles to Valley Regional Park on the right (west) side of the road.

There are parking areas in the middle as well as the north and south ends of the park. The route described here begins from the middle parking area just north of the softball complex, however the loop trail through the park can be accessed from any parking area you choose.

The Route

From the parking area, begin walking on the paved path heading north. The trail passes by a playground and pavilion before reaching the northern boundary of the park where it turns west. Continue walking as it circles a large grassy area. Soon the trail enters a natural area that gives a little variation in the scenery from the groomed grass.

Continuing walking on the paved trail as it passes through a heavily vegetated area before continuing on to a hilly section of the park, adjacent to the softball complex. At the south end of the park, the trail makes a 180-degree turn and begins heading north back toward the trailhead. Total round trip walking distance for the loop hike is 1.4 miles. Short connector trails along the route make it possible to adjust the length of the trail to fit your time and energy level. There is also a walkway around the softball track that is just over 0.5 miles if you are interested in a longer walk.
