Your Baby

This is the week of menstruation, when your uterus sheds much of its thick lining. A pregnancy is measured from the first day of the last menstrual period (LMP). Your baby's estimated due date (EDD) is 40 weeks after your LMP.

Your Body

Our menstrual period is the start of a new cycle — one that may be the starting point for a pregnancy. The cycle is governed by the interplay of hormones produced in your brain and ovaries.
