Our key officers and leaders are involved in systemwide decision-making for the breadth of operational and strategic issues for Intermountain Healthcare, serving on a variety of committees and councils, including Intermountain's Advisory Council and Operations Council.

Rob Allen, Regional VP, Rural

Robert Allen, Regional Vice President, Rural Region and Outreach. Mr. Allen has assumed an expanded role overseeing outreach efforts across the system, including Life Flight, and he leads Clinical Support Services. He has served as CEO of hospitals in Wyoming, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Utah, and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He received a bachelor's in operations management from Brigham Young University and completed his MBA at Utah State University. An active member of his community, he has been Chairman of the Wyoming Hospital Association, and has served on the boards of several chambers of commerce, foundations, and others.
Suzie Draper, Business Ethics and Compliance VP

Suzie Draper, Vice President, Business Ethics and Compliance. Ms. Draper's professional healthcare career spans clinical settings to Corporate Compliance and Privacy, Medical Records, and Physician Services. She co-founded Intermountain's Compliance Program in 1997 and has overseen its development and expansion. She has served with a number boards and is a member of the Presbyterian Healthcare Services Compliance and Audit Committee. Ms. Draper is Chair of the Salt Lake Community Health Care Center Board of Directors and a member of the American Hospital Association Compliance Officer's Roundtable. She completed a bachelor's degree in nursing and received her MPA.
David Flood, Chief Development Officer

David Flood, Chief Development Officer. Mr. Flood provides leadership for all philanthropic programs at Intermountain Healthcare​ and is Chair-elect of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy. He oversees the Intermountain Healthcare Foundation in conjunction with the foundation's volunteer Board of Trustees. Prior to his current position, Mr. Flood was President of Meridian Health Affiliated Foundations in New Jersey, as well as President of the Somerset Medical Center Foundation. He received bachelor and master degrees from Seton Hall University.
Douglas Hammer, Legal Affairs VP style

Douglas J. Hammer, Vice President and General Counsel. Mr. Hammer is responsible for the organization and management of legal and government relations, focusing on corporate law, integrated delivery systems, complex transactions, antitrust, tax, and health policy. He has served on the Board of Directors of the America Health Lawyers Association and was named an AHLA Charter Fellow in 2005. Mr. Hammer has been an adjunct professor for both the University of Utah School of Medicine and Brigham Young University Marriott Graduate School of Management. He received his juris doctor from the University of Utah after completing a master's in public health from the University of Michigan.
Larry D. Hancock, Regional VP, UCR

Larry D. Hancock, Regional Vice President, Urban Central Region.
Mr. Hancock's professional background includes 25 years of leadership over health systems, health insurance plans, and hospitals. He is active in numerous community and professional organizations. Prior to joining Intermountain, Mr. Hancock served as President of Iasis Healthcare's Utah market, over operations and strategic direction of four hospitals. Previously, he served as President and CEO of Altius Health Plans, and for HCA he was President and CEO of St. Mark's Hospital. Mr. Hancock earned a master's of public administration from Brigham Young University, where he received an accounting bachelor's degree.
Kim Henrichsen, Clinical Operations VP

Kim Henrichsen, Vice President, Clinical Operations and Chief Nursing Officer. Ms. Henrichsen sets strategy for clinical and professional services across Intermountain, including nursing, clinical programs, and clinical services. Prior, Ms. Henrichsen was CNO of Intermountain's Salt Lake area facilities. She has also served as CNO and Operations Officer for Intermountain's Southwest Region, Director of Cardiovascular Services at Dixie Regional Medical Center, and Manager of adult critical care at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. She completed both a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master's in adult continuous care at the University of Utah.
Brent James, MD, Chief Quality Officer, Medical Research VP

Brent James, MD, MStat, Chief Quality Officer, Vice President, Medical Research. As Executive Director of the Institute for Health Care Delivery Research, Dr. James leads Intermountain's clinical improvement efforts. He serves on the Institute of Medicine's National Roundtable on Healthcare Quality and on a number of not-for-profit healthcare boards. Dr. James is published in medical journals, holds adjunct professorships at the University of Utah School of Medicine and Tulane University, and is a visiting lecturer at the Harvard School of Public Health. He received a bachelor's degree in computer science, a master's in statistics, and his medical degree from the University of Utah.
Bruce Jensen, Communications VP

Bruce Jensen, Vice President, Communications.  Mr. Jensen is responsible for managing brand development and implementation, creative development, marketing, advertising and media strategy, broadcast and print production, public relations, research, and new business development. Previously, Mr. Jensen was a founding partner of Brand Force, Inc., and he served as President at Fotheringham & Associates. He serves on local community boards, including the Guadalupe Schools Board of Directors, the University of Utah's Continuum Magazine Editorial Advisory Board, and the Pioneer Theatre Company Advisory Board. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Utah.
Brent Johnson, Supply Chain/Support Services VP

Brent Johnson, Vice President, Strategic Sourcing.  Mr. Johnson leads Intermountain's Supply Chain strategies that support corporate functions of warehousing, strategic sourcing, purchasing, material systems, couriers, travel services, and central laundry, all creating an industry "top 25 Gartner" Supply Chain Organization that has achieved over $200 million savings. He has over 30 years of experience developing supply chain strategies for major companies and currently serves on the boards of the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management and Strategic Marketplace Initiative. Mr. Johnson received his MBA from the University of Utah.
Greg M. Johnson, Finance VP

Greg Johnson, Vice President, Finance. Mr. Johnson is responsible for overseeing accounting, budgeting, capital investment, decision support, financial planning, payer contracting, revenue cycle, and treasury operations. Prior to joining Intermountain, he worked for seven years with Ernst & Young in the Long Beach, California, and Salt Lake City, Utah, offices where he had significant experience in financial accounting and reporting in the healthcare and manufacturing industries. Mr. Johnson is a CPA, receiving his bachelor's degree in accounting from Brigham Young University, followed by an MBA from the University of Utah.
Laura S. Kaiser, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Laura S. Kaiser, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
Ms. Kaiser is responsible for healthcare delivery and operations at the system's facilities, Medical Group, Clinical Programs and Services, and the Institute for Healthcare Delivery Research. She was President and CEO of Sacred Heart Health System in Pensacola, Florida, and Ministry Market Leader for the Gulf Coast/Florida region of Ascension Health. Ms. Kaiser is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She earned MBA and master of healthcare administration degrees from Saint Louis University, and received a bachelor of science degree in health services management from the University of Missouri.
Terri Kane, Regional VP, SWR

Terri Kane, Regional Vice President, Southwest Region. Ms. Kane has more than 30 years of experience in nursing, hospital operations, corporate operations, and executive leadership. She came to St. George in 2001 from the central offices where she directed Women and Newborns Services for all of Intermountain. Ms. Kane was named Executive of the Year by the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce and, as the hospital's CEO, has led Dixie Regional Medical Center to national honors and recognition, including the Top 50 Heart Hospitals in the Nation, the listing of Best Regional Hospitals, and the national list of 65 Great Community Hospitals.
Linda Leckman, MD, Medical Group CEO, Intermountain VP

Linda C. Leckman, MD, Medical Group CEO, Physician Division Vice President. A surgeon by training, Dr. Leckman has been CEO of the Intermountain Medical Group since 1996. Previously, she was President of the Alta View Hospital Medical Staff and Chair of the Department of Surgery at Alta View and Cottonwood hospitals. In addition, she has served in various leadership positions at the Utah Medical Association and is currently on the board of the American Medical Group Association. She received a bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University and completed her medical degree at the University of New Mexico.
Mikelle Moore, Community Benefit VP

Mikelle Moore, Vice President, Community Benefit. Prior to her current position, Ms. Moore served as Administrator of LDS Hospital. She joined Intermountain as an Administrative Fellow in 1998, serving as Assistant Administrator and Operations Officer in the Urban Central Region. She is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and is active in numerous professional community causes severing on several boards. Ms. Moore earned her master's degrees in business administration and health services administration from Arizona State University, and a bachelor's in physiology from the University of Arizona.
Joe Mott, Healthcare Transformation VP

Joe Mott, Vice President, Healthcare Transformation. Mr. Mott leads the development and implementation of Intermountain's shared accountability strategy. Prior to his current position, he spent 20 years at Primary Children's Medical Center as CFO, COO, and as CEO, providing leadership for the creation of the hospital's Patient Safety Plan, several new clinical services, and leading expansion of the facility campus. Mr. Mott has served as the Chair of Child Health Quality Council for the National Association of Children's Hospitals and the Davis County Board of Health. He earned both a bachelor's in economics and an MBA from Brigham Young University.
Timothy T. Pehrson, Regional VP, UNR

Timothy T. Pehrson, Regional Vice President and CEO of the Urban North Region and McKay-Dee Hospital. Mr. Pehrson oversees McKay-Dee, Logan Regional, and Bear River Valley hospitals. He is a member of the Ogden/Weber Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Governors of the Davis Chamber of Commerce, and serves on a variety of boards, including the Utah Hospital Association, Wells Fargo Community Advisory, Davis Applied Technology College Foundation Board, and the Mary Elizabeth Dee Shaw Foundation. Mr. Pehrson received a degree in history from Brigham Young University and completed a master's degree in healthcare administration at the University of Michigan.
Greg Poulsen is Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer

Greg Poulsen, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. 
Mr. Poulsen has direct responsibility for strategic planning, research and development, marketing, and payer contracting. He is a frequent participant in national and international health policy development and has served as a consultant to the Swedish Health Minister and the British National Health Service. Mr. Poulsen is as a Commissioner for the Commonwealth Fund in Washington, DC. Serving on several boards, he Chair of the Utah Health Data Committee Consumer Information Council and Vice Chair of the Utah Foundation.
Marc Probst, CIO, Intermountain VP

Marc Probst, Chief Information Officer and Vice President. Mr. Probst has been involved with information technology and healthcare services for over 23 years. Prior to joining Intermountain, he was a partner at both Deloitte Consulting and Ernst & Young, serving healthcare provider and payer organizations. Mr. Probst has been appointed to serve on the Federal Healthcare Information Technology Policy Committee, which is assisting in developing HIT Policy for the U.S. Government, and he serves on local boards for the Utah Health Information Network as well as the Utah Food Bank. He is a graduate of the University of Utah in finance and received his MBA from George Washington University.
Pat Richards, CEO SelectHealth

Patricia R. Richards, President and Chief Executive Officer of SelectHealth. Prior to joining SelectHealth, Ms. Richards served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Health Alliance Plan of Michigan, an affiliate of the Henry Ford Health System. Previously, she held senior leadership positions at Anthem Health Plan of Maine, Paramount Health Care in Ohio, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Ohio, respectively. Ms. Richards completed studies in nursing at the University of Wisconsin and has a bachelor's degree in communications. She completed graduate studies in public healthcare administration, graduating from the University of Toledo.
Steve Smoot, Regional VP, USR

Steve Smoot, Regional Vice President, Urban South Region and Administrator of Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. Mr. Smoot originally served as Administrator at Valley View Medical Center and then at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. Previously, he led operations at community hospitals in Kentucky and Montana. Mr. Smoot serves on several community boards, including Chair of the Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Volunteer Care Clinic, and the Utah Hospital Association. He holds a bachelor's degree in hospital administration from Weber State University, an MBA Brigham Young University, and he is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Charles W. Sorenson, MD, Intermountain Healthcare President and Chief Executive Officer

Charles W. Sorenson, MD, President and CEO. Under Dr. Sorenson's leadership, Intermountain has implemented a system-wide focus on best clinical practices aimed at producing measurably better outcomes for patients. Prior to his current position, he served as Executive VP and COO, and was Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery at LDS Hospital. As a urologic surgeon, Dr. Sorenson continues to perform surgery with a primary focus on urologic oncology. He is an adjunct professor of surgery at the University of Utah School of Medicine and has served as Chair of the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Young Surgeons. Dr. Sorenson has a bachelor's degree from the University of Utah and received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College.
Brent Wallace, MD, Chief Medical Officer

Brent E. Wallace, MD, Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Wallace is responsible for overseeing physician relations and medical affairs, coordination of hospital-based clinical programs and clinical services, physician leadership for design of clinical information system, CME, research, physician contracting, clinical oversight of Life Flight, and he serves as medical consultant for Risk Management. He has served as Medical Director for Intermountain Home Care as well as several nursing homes. Dr. Wallace received his medical degree from the University of Utah, completed his residency at McKay-Dee Hospital Center, and is board certified in Family Practice.
Katy Welkie, Administrator/CEO Primary Children's Medical Center

Katherine (Katy) A. Welkie, Chief Executive Officer, Primary Children’s Hospital. Prior to her current post as CEO, Ms. Welkie served as the hospital's Chief Operating Officer, CNO, and as Nursing Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. She received the Excellence in Nursing Leadership Award from the Utah Organization of Nurse Leaders in 2008 and is a previous recipient of the Osler’s Cloak for Excellence in Caring and Curing. Ms. Welkie completed her bachelor's degree in nursing at the University of Utah and received her MBA with an emphasis in health care administration from Regis University.
Dan Zuhlke, Human Resources VP

Dan Zuhlke, Vice President, Human Resources. Mr. Zuhlke is responsible for the development and direction of Human Resources policies, programs, and strategic direction. Prior to joining Intermountain he served in several HR positions, including Vice President at both St. John Health and the Detroit Medical Center. He is past president of the Michigan Healthcare Human Resources Association of Southeast Michigan and served as President of the American Society of Healthcare Human Resources Administration. Mr. Zuhlke has a bachelor's degree in business from Michigan State University and a master's degree in industrial relations from Wayne State University.
Bert Zimmerli, Executive Vice President and CFO

Bert Zimmerli, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Zimmerli is a CPA and is responsible for the direction and oversight of all financial operations, Intermountain's insurance/health plans operations, SelectHealth, and Intermountain's Information Systems operations. Previously, he was Executive VP and CFO of the Methodist Hospital System in Houston, Texas, and served in numerous capacities with Memorial Hermann Healthcare System in Houston, including Senior VP, CFO, and President of several subsidiaries. Mr. Zimmerli chairs the Board of Directors of Amerinet, Inc., and serves on the Executive Board of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce. He received a bachelor's in accounting and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin.
