The Birthing Center at Dixie Regional
The Birthing Center at Dixie Regional Medical Center is the
first hospital based birthing center in the state of Utah. The birthing center offers the freedom and
comfort of a home birth, while ensuring that total medical support is standing
by just a few feet away.
We see birth as a normal healthy process, and we expect it
to be throughout your experience with us.
We are strongly committed to supporting your choices for your
birth. Our birthing suites have a
beautiful, “home like” design with queen sized beds, spa-sized hydrotherapy
tub and large shower.
Because the Birthing Center is designed for the needs of the
low risk labor patient; If you are interested in this option you should first
meet with their physician or nurse midwife, early in the pregnancy; ideally
before the 13th week of pregnancy to determine if you are a good
candidate for a Birthing Center birth.
Once your care provider has determined that you are a candidate for the
Birthing Center, you will then need to meet with one of our Childbirth
Educators to fill out an application and set up your individualized education
plan. All families planning a Birthing
Center birth are required to complete a two hour “Orientation to the Birthing
Center” class and “Caring for Yourself and Your Baby” class prior to delivery.
While we encourage all are birthing center patients to take
Hypnobirthing and/or Low Intervention Childbirth Techniques, this requirement
can be waived if you have had a previous unmedicated delivery.
Intro to the Birthing Center Class
This class is held twice a month in conjunction with the
“Caring for Yourself and Your Baby”. It
is held from 5 pm to 6 pm. A limit
number of private appointments are available if you are unable to attend a
