The Intermountain Transplant Center's kidney transplant program began in 1983 at LDS Hospital. Our program paved the way for future transplantation, providing excellent support of services critical to transplant success. We moved to Intermountain Medical Center in 2007, when the hospital first opened.
Since 1983, more than 2,000 kidney transplants have been performed, an impressive number given the shortage of available organs for all types of transplantation. Although performing a large amount of transplants per year, our outcomes still exceed national averages.
Our success is due to the efforts of our transplant team which includes transplant nephrologists, surgeons, transplant coordinators, critical care specialists, pathologists, radiologists, infectious disease experts, and a skilled nursing staff.
