The Medical Library is open to all hospital staff and the public. Patients and Family members visiting patients of Primary Children’s Medical Center are welcome to use the library.
The Medical Library is staffed and open for the public 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. After-hours access is available only to Primary Children's staff and clinicians.
The library is located at the north end of first floor, across from the cafeteria.
- Medical textbook and print journal collections can be found in our Online Catalog.
- Electronic resources collection is available on the main page of IntermountainPhysician.org, once logged-in, use the "Clinical References" link to access databases and full-text journals.
- Family Library collection has books, videos and pamphlets written/produced for the public.
- Registration is required for check out of all library materials from the print collections.
Hospital staff, parents and children may borrow these for use in the hospital. Borrowing and returning the books is on the honor system. Please return books to the book drop located right outside the library entrance.
Adult and Young Adult Leisure Reading
The library has a small collection of donated books, mostly paperbacks, which anyone may borrow. Return of the books is not necessary, although it is appreciated. Donations are always welcome!
The library staff will find information on requested topics. This usually involves finding appropriate sections in textbooks, performing literature searches in various databases to find journal articles and searching the Internet. Click on 'Research' above to submit a request for information directly from the medical librarians at Primary Children's.
There is no charge for use of the fax machine by staff, patients, and their families. The number is (801) 662-1393. Instructions are posted on the fax machine in the library. If there is a recipient's name and room number on the fax, the library staff will let you know when a fax arrives for you.
Staff may use the copier without charge if it is work related. Families may use the copier without charge for anything related to their child's care. For personal copying, the cost is five cents per page. Please pay one of the library staff directly.
