Expanding Cancer Care in Iron County

Here in Utah over 10,000 people will be diagnosed with cancer this year. Cancer remains the second most common cause of death in the U.S., accounting for nearly 1 of every 4 deaths. In our lifetime one in two men will develop invasive cancer, and the odds for women are one in three. While those statistics can be scary, help is right here…at home. Our Valley View Cancer Center is literally saving lives every single day, with the latest, most innovative and powerful equipment and protocols that you’d only find in cities 15 times size of Cedar City.

Right now, all efforts are focused on upgrading Valley View’s Linear Accelerator (LINAC), a powerful radiation machine that destroys cancer cells. The upgrade includes CAT scan arms on the machine, which provides live images during the radiation treatment to make it even more precise. That makes for shorter treatments and the ability to better spare healthy tissue.

Cancer is a huge problem, and you can be an important part of the solution! If you would like to learn about how you can help, or schedule a tour of the Cancer Center, visit the Valley View Foundation website or call (435) 868-5809.
