    About us

The Intermountain Health Simulation Consortium is a healthcare simulation department located at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, with six simulation centers across Utah. It serves as the primary provider of healthcare simulation training for all Intermountain caregivers within the state. The consortium focuses on enhancing patient care through simulation activities that emphasize technical skills, critical thinking, and communication. It offers comprehensive training to hospital, homecare, and clinic professionals each year. The simulation program is accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), which sets global standards for healthcare simulation best practices.

This was an amazing experience and the skills that I learned will enhance my practice.

    Our Mission

The Intermountain Health Simulation Consortium is dedicated to enhancing patient care through innovative and evidence-based healthcare services. Our mission is aligned with that of Intermountain Health: to help people live the healthiest lives possible. We do that by providing optimal settings for team training in communication, clinical judgment, and leadership using the principles of Crisis Resource Management. We aim to enhance patient safety and satisfaction through the healthcare simulation training of our caregivers across the organization.

I would highly recommend this course to my colleagues.

    Our Methods

We utilize advanced simulation technologies, including high-fidelity manikins that mimic health conditions and respond to treatment methods. Our training methodologies, enhanced by video recording and live-feed conference rooms, enable healthcare professionals to practice within a low-risk, psychologically safe environment. Additionally, we have partnered with Intermountain Health's clinical experts to develop innovative technologies tailored to the needs of our specific populations. These advanced approaches, combined with best practice techniques in simulation, provide our caregivers with an environment that closely mirrors their real-world settings for optimal learning and practice.

I was able to rub elbows with fantastic minds, gain new insight into simulation, and improve my education skills.

    Intermountain Simulation Facilitator Course

The Intermountain Simulation Facilitator Course is a multidisciplinary, interactive program designed to equip caregivers with the skills necessary to effectively implement simulation as a strategy to enhance clinical outcomes across all patient populations.

Over the course of three days, participants will explore the fundamental principles and elements of simulation. They will learn to design and implement simulation scenarios while refining their reflective debriefing skills. This training ultimately enhances patient care and improves healthcare outcomes. The course offers an experiential learning environment, blending didactic sessions, hands-on practice, and reflective feedback, all under the guidance of experienced Intermountain Health Simulation Faculty.
